Note

Each time you export references from a search tool, the newly imported references will appear in the "Recently Added" folder within your EndNote Desktop library.

Exporting from QU Library Catalog

  • Ensure your EndNote Library is open
  • Go to the library's website, and log in to your library account
  • After logging in to your account, click on "Library Catalog", type they keywords of your topic and click on "Search"

 

  • Choose the reference you want to export to your EndNote library

 

  • Click on "Save Record"

 

  • Then click on "View Saved"

 

  • Click on "Export Saved"

 

  • Select Format of List > EndNote, and Send List To > Local Desk
  • Click on "Submit". You will see a file is being downloaded; save it to your computer.

 

  • Go to your EndNote Library and select File > Import > File

 

  • Upload the file you saved to your computer, select "EndNote Import" then click on "Import"

 

Exporting from a Database: ProQuest as an Example

  • Ensure your EndNote Library is open
  • Go to a database of your choice, ProQuest as an example, and conduct a search on your topic
  • Select the references you want to export to your EndNote library
  • Click on  at the top

 

  • Select "EndNote" from the Citation Export options. Different databases have different names for this exporting function, e.g. Send toExport citation(s)ExportExport/SaveSave; Save to; EndNote [button]

 

  • Select the options shown below, check the box of reCAPTHCA, then click on "Continue"

Exporting from Google Scholar

  • Ensure your EndNote Library is open
  • Go to Google Scholar and conduct a search on your topic
  • Choose a reference you want to export to your EndNote Library, and click on "Cite"

 

  • Click on "EndNote"

Online Search

The Online Search option allows you to directly import references from databases/catalogues within the EndNote program. 

  • Open your EndNote Library
  • In the left side menu pane, you will see few databases under the "Online Search" option
  • If the database you wish to search is displayed, click on it and type they keywords of your topic

 

  • Select the references you wish to add to your EndNote library, then click on 

 

  • To add other databases/catalogues, click on "More" at the bottom of the online search option
  • Select from a list of databases/catalogues then click on "Choose"
