ORCID

This guide provides an introduction to Open Researcher and Contributors ID (ORCID), which provides a persistent digital identifier for researchers

What is ORCID?

ORCID logo

Is a persistent digital identifier that distinguishes you from every other researcher and, through integration in key research workflows such as manuscript and grant submission, supports automated linkages between you and your professional activities ensuring that your work is recognized.

Register for an ORCID ID!

If you don't already have an ORCID ID, create your own HERE!

  • Add enough information to your ORCID record to distinguish you from other researchers with the same name. Be sure to include additional names you are known or published by.
  • Use the available wizards to link your existing works, through Scopus or ResearcherID for example.
    • Easily import your publications and other research output to your ORCID record. You'll be prompted to grant access to your ORCID record then taken to the member's website to select the works to add to your ORCID record.
  • Check that the privacy settings are set the way you would like. For each part of your ORCID profile you have the option of making the information public, keeping it private, or allowing limited access (organizations that you authorize as Trusted Parties can see this information). See ORCID Privacy Settings for more details.
